Intelligent Polymer Coating for Seeds

Intelimer^® - The Science behind the technology...

Landec Corporation, a Menlo Park California research company, created smart polymers called Intelimers.
These functional polymers contain temperature-sensitive switches and are currently used in many applications across several industries.
In the seed industry Landec Ag is using these Intelimers in seed coatings to control germination.

Branded under the name Intellicoat, these Intelimer seed coatings can be programmed to work in two different ways.

Benefits:

By controlling water uptake, germination can be delayed for a specified number of heat units or can be controlled to occur in optimum growing conditions.

Landec Ag's products undergo extensive field testing before they are commercialized.
