So I straight up had a whole conversation with my Google home assistant today just because I was bored, and it got me thinking. What is the future going to look like when the kids today are grown up and running the world?
My generation is probably the last generation to remember the time before the internet and cell phones. When you couldn’t just get in touch with anyone in a second. When you had to watch movies on a VCR and use pay phones to talk to people if you were out. When you had to stop and ask for directions if you got lost. When you would get into petty arguments with your friends about some piece of trivia, and maybe you’d remember to look it up later and maybe you wouldn’t.
What is the world going to be like when the kids who grew up playing games on their parents’ iPads grow up? Is it more difficult for them to focus? Is technology actually changing the way they learn?
What is the future going to look like when virtual reality is more popular? When augmented reality–like we all saw a couple of summers ago when Pokemon Go was super popular–is more of a thing for everyone? Is it going to affect the way they govern, the way they communicate?
These are definitely all interesting things to think about. I’m glad I have somewhere where I can just record my random thoughts and I get to share them with you.
Do you have any comments on this? I’d love to hear them. What do you think about the way technology is influencing the children of today and how it’s going to affect the future? I’d love to hear your thoughts.
